Susan Moren's Obituary
Susan (Susie) Moren, a devoted and loving woman and life-long resident of Broken Arrow, OK, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 74.
Susie is preceded in death by her parents Albert (Buss) and Marjorie (Marge) Dory and her husband Jerry Moren. She is survived by her son John Moren; son Mitch Moren and wife Sara whom she saw as “the daughter she never had”; son Marcus Moren; grandchildren Logan, Joel, Bennett and AJ; and her brother Steve Dory and his children, their spouses, and grandchildren.
Susie was born June 27, 1951, in Perryton, TX to Buss and Marge Dory. She graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1969. Susie married Jerry on July 16, 1972, and they welcomed three boys who were the most important parts of their lives. Susie always wanted to be a mom and as a stay-at-home mother, devoted her time to raising her boys. From volunteering her time at their school as a homeroom mom, serving as a den mother in Scouts, keeping score at their baseball game, or making sure her active boys were well fed, they were her number one priority.
When it came to grandkids, Susie was not sure she was “old enough” to be a grandparent, but the moment she laid eyes on her first grandchild she was smitten. Logan came first in 2007 and was soon followed by Joel, Bennett, and AJ. Being a “Grammy” changed her life in a different way than being a mom. She doted on her grandboys, had a hard time saying “no” to any request they had, and was often giving them sweets even if they didn’t finish their meal. She always had their favorite snacks at the ready when they visited. Her children often teased her this “was not the same mother they had growing up.”
Susie was creative and enjoyed all sorts of crafts in her spare time. She spent many hours sewing anything from quilts to curtains, embroidering her children and grandchildren’s stockings, and trying out new trends in the crafting world. She was always excited to tackle a project and often needed little encouragement to try something new. She used her creative talent when she gave a gift and was known in the family as the person who wrapped the most beautiful and elaborate packages which always had to have a bow.
Susie always loved animals and filled her home with dogs, cats, birds, and even a hamster at one time. With her love of animals, she found a new hobby later in life and became passionate about raising and showing Irish Setters. From breeding her own litter or adopting strays, collecting Irish themed decorations, and participating in Irish Setter club activities were a large part of her life.
The Moren family will be holding a private service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org.
