Susan Roxanne Shinn's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Susan Roxanne Shinn
October 9, 1957 – October 10, 2025
Susan Roxanne Shinn, affectionately known as “Sussie Susan” or “Sassy Susan,” passed away on October 10, 2025, just one day after celebrating her 68th birthday. A force of nature, Susan was known for her fierce competitiveness, her infectious laugh, and her unwavering devotion to her family.
Born on October 9, 1957, Susan lived a life filled with passion, strength, and endless curiosity. Her deep faith in the Lord guided her throughout her journey. She had a playful fascination with the mysterious as an avid believer in Bigfoot and a lifelong fan of scary movies, always drawn to anything spooky or thrilling. But more than anything, Susan’s heart belonged to her family. From board game nights filled with laughter to unforgettable family vacations, she was the glue that held everyone together; the steady rock at the center of it all.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Known lovingly by her children as the “Dragon Lady,” Susan was a woman of immense strength and determination. You didn’t mess with her, but you always felt safe in her presence. Her love was fierce, protective, and unconditional.
Susan is survived by her children: Crystal Shinn, Brett Shinn and spouse Miriah Feather, Tabitha Shinn, Amber Sanchez and spouse Matthew Sanchez, Keisha Rider, and Tasha Tillman; and her beloved grandchildren: Nicole Schwermer, Blade Feather, Aiden Feather, ShiAnne Sanchez, and Kai De Hoyos. She also leaves behind her siblings Harry (and wife Christine Whaley) and Soso Whaley; nephews Harry Nelson and Chris Hadley; and a host of other family members and dear friends who will forever miss her vibrant spirit and loving heart.
She is reunited in peace with her parents, Velva Irene Whaley and Harry Angus Whaley.
Susan’s legacy lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the strength of her children, and the memories shared by all who knew and loved her. She was truly one of a kind; bold, brave, and beautifully unforgettable.
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love."
John 15:9
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalm 23
