Susan Carol Stamm's Obituary
Susan C. Stamm passed away three weeks after her 60th birthday on December 29 in Broken Arrow, OK, after a 2-1/2 year battle with ovarian cancer. The daughter of Marie C. Gregersen Stamm (Center Line, MI) and John G. Stamm (Titusville, PA), Susan grew up in Center Line, MI and Vestal, NY. In Michigan, she played clarinet in the Wolfe Junior High School Marching Band, and in New York she played oboe and later bassoon in the Vestal High School orchestra as well as sang in the Vestal Voices. Attending college at the State University of New York at Binghamton, she took two years off to live in Copenhagen, Denmark with her family. Returning to New York, she completed her Bachelor’s Degree and began her first job in the publishing industry at Gould Publications in Binghamton, NY. Seeking new opportunities, Susan moved with her sister Anna to Madison, WI, where she became the Special Publications Director for the Forest Products Society. In that role, Susan was able to hone her skills in all aspects of publishing as she excelled at helping authors bring their works to fruition. A different not-for-profit association, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, brought Susan and her sister to Tulsa, OK. There too she made lasting friendships with her authors, tirelessly seeking to help them share their knowledge through her role as Books Manager. Forever humble and unassuming, Susan always put the needs of others above her own. She is survived by her older sister Christine M. Stamm Nettleship (Leland, NC) and her little sister Anna L. Stamm (Broken Arrow, OK). Memorial donations may be made on her behalf to The Peregrine Fund in Boise, ID
