Suzanne Kelley's Obituary
Susie passed away on April 7, 2021. She was born on December 30, 1944 daughter of Oren and Laura Shires and Lila Mitchell, and grew up in Tulsa, graduating from Will Rogers in the Class of 1963. While at Rogers she became friends with a unique group of women and they became known as “The Dozen.” They traveled to Eureka Springs, Estes Park, and Breckenridge for their 50th, 60th, and 70th birthdays and still get together to play bridge.
After high school, she attended OU and became a big Sooner fan. She earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree. She worked at the Wildlife Department for Outdoor Oklahoma and returned to Tulsa in 1977. While in Norman she made many lifelong friends that she maintained contact with and traveled with.
Susie joined Unity Church of Christianity forty years ago and had many fond experiences there.
She met her husband, Raymond, on a Tulsa Ski club trip to Crested Butte in 1985. Susie chaired numerous Ski Club trips to the Rockies, New York City, and Interlaken, Switzerland with side trips to Paris and Rome. She and Raymond loved to travel and visited 13 countries and enjoyed cruising to several locations.
Susie worked in sales for American Overhead Door for over thirty years and recently was employed in sales at Tulsa Garage Doors and Motors. She developed a lot of builder accounts and enjoyed dealing with them on their various projects.
Susie was blessed with many friends and she loved to spend time with them whether on the slopes, at the pool, or lake, and at home. She loved to paint and draw.
Susie is survived by her husband Raymond, and daughter Kristen Durbin, Tulsa. Her son James Dunn and his wife, Cathi, of Chandler, Arizona, along with daughters McKenna and Camryn; son John Dunn and his wife, Annie, of Chandler Arizona. Her stepchildren Kelley Wilson and her husband, Jimmy, of Pryor; Jackie Brashears and her husband Jeremy, of Claremore; Scott and his wife Rachel Kelley of Tulsa and Bobbi Hendricks of Torrence, California. Her grandchildren Sami Harlow, Justin Foster, Seth Wilson; Cory Ferguson, Tyler Ferguson, and Tabitha Ferguson; Briana Kelley; and Winston and Sidney Hendrickson; McKenna and Cameron Dunn. In addition, she has six great-grandchildren. Her cousins Lewis Stephens, Denice Kurtz, John Hines, and Janet Masterson.
