Suzanne Long's Obituary
Suzanne Long was born on March 23, 1947 in Mobile, Alabama, and passed away on April 14, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Suzanne was the eldest of two daughters to James and Frances Cumberledge. Her family later made their home in Tulsa, OK.Upon finishing school, she began a successful career in audiology, later becoming a computer systems administrator at TCC.Her life changed when she met Jack Long, her husband for 44 years, who brought a new kind of happiness and adventure into her life. With her ever-present smile and humor she became a part of the Long family and the Long family circle of friends, sharing friendship, music, and much laughter. She and Jack shared many adventures: traveling in support of their many musician family members and friends, living “off-the-grid” in a rural homestead setting, building a post and beam home on a rural acreage, digging fish ponds, actively serving as disaster relief coordinators for the amateur radio community, and more. They were always side by side, taking in the good life offers and supporting each other through the sorrows and struggles life brought. Jack became her lifeline and stayed by her side through the trials presented by her illness.Suzanne was a beautiful soul. She loved her cats and feeding the wild birds in her yard. Her quick smile and jovial laughter made the world around her a better place to be.She is survived by her husband, Jack, and her sister, Katie.A private family memorial celebration will be held in her honor. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity in her memory. She was dearly loved and will remain forever in our hearts.
