Sylvia Joy Sharp's Obituary
Sylvia Joy Sharp was born on July 12, 1930 in Cirencester Gloucestershire England to Josiah and Doris Gallimore. She passed away February 10th, 2021 in her home in Coweta, Oklahoma. Joy grew up near London where her parents owned and operated two bakeries. To escape the constant German bombings of London during World War II she was sent to the country to live with her grandmother. Upon returning to London after the war, Joy met and married Walter Street. Together they had a son, Arthur Street. In 1960, the Streets accompanied by Joy’s parents and her nephews and brother all immigrated to the United States on the last voyage of the Queen Mary. They were admitted to the United States at Ellis Island in New York! Many years later they became United States Citizens. After Joy and Wally separated, Joy met and married Alex Sharp in 1978. Together they built a life and shared many adventures over 30 years! Joy moved to Coweta to be close to her son and family later in life. She spent the 90 years of her life caring for and loving her family! She is survived by son Arthur Street and wife Terri, Stepson Glenn Sharp and wife Polly, stepdaughters Phyllis Sharp and Becky Smith. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Krout and her spouse Jack, Tiffany Haley and her spouse Scott, Thomas Street and his wife Jennifer, Jeremy Street and his wife Megan, and Tabitha Pitre. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren Shelby and Makenzie Foutch, Kimberly Krout, Alex Haley, Tyler and Tariah Street, Matthew, Lily and Levi Pitre and coming soon Emma Street! Lastly, she has many family remaining in England and a niece in Florida.
