Teri Lynn Mobley's Obituary
Teri Lynn Mobley, age 65, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed peacefully at home on October 19th,
2024 after a three year battle with two rare diseases, systemic scleroderma and pulmonary
arterial hypertension. She fought valiantly to stay here with her family and friends she loves so
dearly. Her faith in God, and His Son, Jesus, sustained her to the end of her life on this mortal
plane. She knew her Lord Jesus would be there to walk her home.
Teri was born November 23rd, 1958 to Gerald Ray and Laura Sue Mobley, the first child of their
marital union. Teri was soon joined by a brother David, and then another brother Jeffrey. She
attended grade school at MacArthur Elementary, junior high at Eli Whitney Junior High School,
and high school at Nathan Hale High School. She graduated in 1977, and attended OSU for
one year. She has kept in contact with her high school classmates over the years. Attending
class reunions was always one of her greatest joys.
She was always a happy child, curious, full of life. She was a delight to her parents,
grandparents, brothers and uncles. Teri was a Girl Scout, played soft ball and always enjoyed
sports. She was a Pom Pom girl at Hale High School. She was an avid reader as a child, and a
good student. Teri loved people, she was a good friend, and she shared what she had with
people she barely knew. Teri was very generous and loving. Everyone who knew Teri knew how
much she loved animals. She and Spencer took in so many lost, and abandoned dogs and cats.
In her young adult life, Teri worked in the financial industry for some years. She was employed
by First National Bank, USAA, and Prudential Securities during that period of her life. At age 40,
she went for it and made a business out of what she loved to do. Teri opened her own business,
“ In The Vineyard “ at that time. Teri had her own shop in Claremore, and had booths at multidealer
venues like Windsor Market in Tulsa, Jade on Main in Broken Arrow, and Cranberry
Merchant in Claremore. She loved the “thrill of the hunt “, finding and reselling unique and lovely
items that she found at auctions, estate sales, and garage sales. Being born into an artistic
family, she would also find furniture to paint, re-purpose, and recreate into her own style that her
customers loved. Her physical weakness from her developing diseases ended her business
ventures in 2021. But not her tenacious spirit. That spirit endured to the end.
Teri is predeceased by her brother David, her grandparents: Joe and Laura McGuire, and
Donald and Kathleen Mobley, and her uncle Mike McGuire.
She is survived by her husband Spencer Sutton, her stepdaughters Alonna Sutton and Alisha
Netz, her parents Gerald and Sue Mobley, her brother Jeffrey Mobley and his wife Julie, her
niece Madison Mobley, her uncle Johnny McGuire and his wife Suzette, her uncle Rick Mobley
and his wife Cathy, their children, and too many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends to list.
There will be a memorial service held for Teri on her birthday, Saturday, November 23rd, 2024,
11 AM, at Unity Center of Tulsa, 1830 S. Boston. Light reception following. This is where she
and her husband, Spencer, met and were married.
In lieu of flowers, donations to two organizations would be appreciated;
