Terry Raymond Hobbs' Obituary
Terry Raymond Hobbs went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2023. Born on April 17, 1951, in Casper, Wyoming, Terry lived a wonderful life that blessed others and served Jesus. As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Terry exemplified what it means to be a faithful, devoted man. The son of an oil field worker, Terry moved around the country in the mountain states and upper plains across the United States during his upbringing. At age 9, he came to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. That same year, his family moved to Minnesota, where he later graduated from Long Prairie High School. He went on to attend Greenville College in Illinois, where he met his beloved wife of 52 years, Debbie. They were married in 1971 and moved to Marion, Indiana, where Terry went on to graduate from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1972. Terry began his career in social services work and went on to become a successful businessman and professional. He was well-respected and accomplished in the fields of healthcare consulting, human resources, executive and leadership coaching, and he earned a Master’s Degree from Southern Nazarene University. The Hobbs family planted roots in Oklahoma in 1992, including living in Bartlesville and finally settling in Broken Arrow for the last 23 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother Violet Koros Hobbs Parriott, his stepfather Robert Parriott, his father Earl R. Hobbs, and his sister Karen Ward.
He is survived by his wife Debbie; his daughter Jennifer Prindle of Edmond, Oklahoma, and her husband Jay, and their children, Bryse, Brooke, and Isaac; and his son Brian Hobbs of Edmond, Oklahoma, and his wife Jennifer, and their children, Alice, Evelyn, Martin, Gwendolyn, and Violet. He is also survived by his brother Jim (Gloria) Hobbs of Long Prairie, Minnesota; his brother-in-law David (Gina) Martin of New Braunfels, Texas; his sister-in-law Donna Martin of Sanger, Texas; his brother-in-law Roland Ward of Branson, Missouri; and many cherished nephews and nieces.
Terry had many hobbies and interests he greatly enjoyed, including traveling to all 50 United States with his wife Debbie; playing his guitar, singing in the church choir, playing golf, tennis, and racquetball, and cheering on his favorite sports teams including the OU Sooners and OKC Thunder, as well as spending significant time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. A man of deep and abiding faith in Jesus, Terry and his wife Debbie are longtime members of South Tulsa Baptist Church, where Terry actively served in a variety of capacities including committees, the church choir, teaching the Truth Project, working with international students, personal evangelism, and more. Terry recently joined The Gideons International, and as his illness made his body weaker in recent months, Terry grew even more intentional on sharing the Gospel and love of Jesus with everyone he met.
A Memorial (Celebration of Life) Service will be held at South Tulsa Baptist Church (10310 S Sheridan Rd, Tulsa, OK 74133). To watch Terry's Celebration of Life Service live you may go to www.southtulsa2.live
