Theo Leslie "Les" Turner, Jr.'s Obituary
Theodore Leslie “Les” Turner, Jr., 92, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died on Wednesday, November 4, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM, on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, in Broken Arrow, OK. He was born on July 20, 1922, in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of Theo Leslie and Hazel L. (Jones) Turner. Les graduated from East Bank High School, and attended Capital City Commercial College, in Charleston, West Virginia. On May 22, 1945, he married the love of his life, Mildred Conley. He retired as an accountant in 1983 from City Service Oil Company, having moved to Oklahoma in 1964 from his home in Charleston. He was a member of Will Rogers United Methodist Church, and volunteered for the YWCA, YMCA, and Town and Country School. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed golfing, and had been a semi pro baseball player with the industrial league, in Charleston, West Virginia. He loved to dance and do calling for square dance groups. He is survived by his loving wife, of 69 years, Mildred, brothers, Robert Turner, of Cocoa, Florida, and Jim Turner, of Westminster,Colorado, sister, Betty Parkins, of Charleston, West Virginia, in-laws, Jason and JoAnn Conley, of Charleston, West Virginia, Thelma Conley Hughes, and Alice Conley Miller, both of Spencer, West Virginia, Janet (Conley) Smith, of Elyria, Ohio, Barbara J. Conley, of Spencer, West Virginia, and Helen Conley, of Charleston, West Virginia, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Beulah Carroll. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to St. Francis Hospice, 6600 S. Yale Ave., Suite 350, Tulsa, OK 74136.
