Theodore Jay Riner's Obituary
Theodore Jay Riner was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 13, 2021 to Aubrey Raeann Scott Riner and Justin Riner. He was feisty from the start, trying constantly to get his cords and wires off. His fighting spirit allowed him to see lots of family before meeting Jesus on October 15, 2021.
Theodore is survived by his loving parents, Justin and Aubrey Riner of Owasso, Oklahoma; maternal grandparents, Brent and Sue Scott of Parker, Colorado; paternal grandparents, DJ and Lori Riner of Tulsa, Oklahoma; maternal great-grandparents, D.M. & Phyllis Sokolosky of Owasso, Oklahoma; maternal great-grandmother, Carol Scott of Owasso, Oklahoma; paternal great-grandmother, Walthena Lawrence-Thurman and spouse Marvin Thurman of Shawnee, Oklahoma; paternal great-great-grandmother Gene Ann Lawrence of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Theodore was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather Don Scott of Owasso, Oklahoma; paternal great-grandparents Dick & Mary Ellen Riner of Protection, Kansas; and paternal great-grandfather Larry Lawrence of Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Theodore means God’s gift, and he was just that to us: a divine gift. The name Jay was chosen to honor Theo’s Poppy, Justin’s father DJ, and it means victory. While his short life here may not seem like a victory, we know that it is, as our sweet boy is celebrating with Jesus now, the greatest victory of all. We cling to the truth that our hope is not in each other, or in our little Teddy, but in Jesus. For that we are thankful.
A private family graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Garden of Angels.
