ObituaryTheodore (Ted) Eugene Wellendorf, a loving husband, father, grandfather and World War II veteran, passed away March 14 at the age of 92.Ted was born Jan. 28, 1923, in Youngstown, Ohio, to John T. and Mae Wellendorf. He graduated from South High School in Youngstown.As a young man, he worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company prior to entering the Army Air Force in December 1942. After service in the Western Pacific and discharge Jan. 6, 1946, Ted went to Oklahoma City, where he married Virginia Miller on Jan. 10, 1946.After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in business administration with accounting and finance majors, Ted began his career with Oklahoma Natural Gas Company (later named ONEOK) in 1949 as an accountant trainee. Ted advanced through many treasury and accounting positions and was treasurer and assistant secretary for many years. He retired as a senior vice president on Jan. 1, 1984, after 35 years with the company.Ted was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He gave his time and expertise to many industry and charitable organizations. As a member of the American Gas Association, he was chairman of the Accounting Section in 1969-70 and awarded the association’s Order of Accounting Merit in October 1970.Ted is survived by his wife, Virginia Wellendorf; son and spouse Glen and Pat Wellendorf; son and spouse Don and Susie Wellendorf; granddaughter and spouse Rebekah and Rich Roberts; grandchildren Matthew and Elizabeth Wellendorf; grandchildren Cassie, Rachel and David Wellendorf and their mother, Sabrina Wellendorf; and seven great grandchildren.A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, in the Founders Room of Inverness Village, 3800 W. 71st St. Memories also can be shared at www.floralhaven.com.
