I can't believe it's been 4 years. Lana and I haven't forgotten you. God bless you and your family.
Just now learning about the tragedy that took Land's life. I grew up with Land and his late sister Jane. My condolences to his wonderful family and especially his dear Mother, Betty. May he rest in peace.
I met Land a few years ago, when he became Phoenix College's Head football coach.I am a big supporter of the football program there, but became an even bigger one after Land took over.We also worked together on my Dad's golf tourney that raised monies for his program. We made a great team together!Over these past four years, we became good friends and had some fun times!I will miss his sense of humor, his dedication to PC's football program and team plus his friendship!!!Rest in Peace,Land.
Coach Jacobsen, Thanks for being a outstanding coach and mentor to my son at Phoenix College. The advise and directions you gave to my son has allowed him to move on to the next level. I will always cherish the memories fun we had traveling from Phoenix College to games out of state especially to Snow College (Utah) and New Mexico. May your soul rest in peace. You will Greatly be missed. God Bless the Family during this difficult time.
Jake, we will never forget the windy day I met you at WNM football practice and what I said to you as my son introduced you to me. I will fondly remember friends gathering after the games, but I won't forget you almost running over me with the team bus. Rest in Peace!
From the first time I met Land at Nimitz he was always an inspired and determined 'star!' He proved his abilities at Memorial – pleased to hear he coached and shared his aspirations with many student athletes. My sincere condolences to his family and all who loved him.
What a great career Land had. He may not have been big physically but he was still a great competitor. He was an all around nice guy and I considered him a friend. When it's my time to go I hope I see Land and we can tell each other we won the game that "really" counted.
I didn't know Land well but was a friend of Jane's and my prayers go out to all of the Jacobsen family at this tragic time.
The first time I met Coach Jake, I was going to college at Western New Mexico University. I was twenty-eight years old and had not played any football since I was a senior in High School, but that did not stop me I strolled into his office and said "Coach I want to play football for you." He said "Ok" and after our conversation He said "How does Linebacker sound." I said "Sounds Great" and I left his office. Then I went to work outs couldn't lift 185 but I figured I have a big heart and can muscle my way through it. Well that first year my groin and my muscles did not agree with my heart. I hurt everywhere, but Coach Jake saw something in me and he kept me around. I made all the road games as the camera guy but I was around the players, I was playing the game I loved. It was because of him. Coach Jake will always have a special place in my heart. He was a good man. I wish it was under different circumstances.Thank Coach You'll be missed.Choppy
