Thomas William Martin, a beloved resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, departed this world on August 26, 2023, at the age of 58. He was born on March 12, 1965, in his cherished hometown of Tulsa to the late Kenneth Roy Martin and Anna Mae (Chase) Martin.
Thomas's life was a tapestry woven with love, creativity, and a deep connection to his heritage. In 2014, he officially joined hands in marriage with the love of his life, Richard Tibbs, solidifying a bond that had flourished for over four decades. Together, they embarked on countless adventures across the globe, creating memories that would forever paint their lives with joy.
A man of artistic prowess, Thomas's creative spirit found its ultimate expression in his career as a world-recognized AIFD floral designer as well as CFD certified. Through his hands, nature's beauty was transformed into breathtaking arrangements that captured the essence of every occasion. His creations brought smiles to many faces, a testament to the passion and dedication he poured into his work.
Thomas was more than just a talented artist; he exuded charisma that was impossible to ignore. Laughter followed him wherever he went, a reflection of his vibrant personality. Yet, beneath that infectious joy, there lay a mischievous streak that added a special charm to his interactions with others.
Proud of his heritage, Thomas was a respected member of the Cherokee Tribe, a connection he held dear to his heart. His involvement with the Greater Cherokees of Tulsa showcased his commitment to preserving and celebrating his roots. As a tribal gourd dancer at Pow-wows, he danced to the rhythms of his ancestors, keeping their traditions alive. His skilled hands brought to life intricate tribal shirts and beadwork, preserving the cultural heritage he held in high regard.
Beyond his artistic and cultural pursuits, Thomas was a dedicated family historian. He delved into the past with fervor, tracing his lineage back through time, and connecting the threads of his family's journey. Through his efforts, the tapestry of his ancestry was woven into a story that spanned generations.
Thomas William Martin leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, creativity, and a profound connection to his heritage. He is survived by his husband and partner of many years, Richard Tibbs, who shared in his adventures and stood by his side through every moment. He is also survived by a host of cherished friends and extended family members who were touched by his presence.

Thomas was preceded in passing by his parents, Kenneth and Anna Martin, his brother, Kenny Leroy Martin; and his nephew, Andrew Martin. He is survived by his husband, Richard Tibbs; his sister, Joanna Johnson and her husband, Rex; his brother, David Martin, and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Floral Haven.
Celebration of Life Service will be at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
