Thomas Carl Martinson's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, Thomas Carl Martinson, age 84, passed away on April 28, 2024. Born on December 19, 1939, he was the beloved only child of Carl Oscar and Pauline Myrtle Martinson. Tom's journey led him through Coffeyville Junior College, where he excelled in basketball, to the University of Tulsa, where he excelled in baseball.
While at TU, Tom found his lifelong partner, Patricia "Patty" Thomas, whom he married on July 13th 1963 and have been happily married for 60 years. Together, they raised two children, Jeff and Stacy, infusing their lives with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Tom's dedication extended beyond his family as he coached his children's extracurricular activities, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives.
Tom was renowned for his infectious sense of humor and his boundless generosity. He approached life with an open heart, never hesitating to extend a helping hand to those in need and generously supporting various charitable organizations.
An avid sports enthusiast, Tom found joy in golf and passionately cheered for his beloved University of Tulsa. His commitment to service extended to the Air National Guard, where he served with honor, and to his career at American Airlines, where he was a senior analyst. Tom was smart with numbers, and was an extremely organized individual, earning him the moniker "post-it king".
One of Toms’ greatest joys was cheering on his grandsons at their ball games. Rain or shine, he could always be found on the sidelines, beaming with pride and joy offering words of encouragement.
Tom leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by his devoted wife, Patty; his son, Jeff, and daughter-in-law, Becky; his daughter, Stacy, and son-in-law, Scott; his adored grandchildren, Landon, Preston, and Holden; and a host of other family members and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Though Tom has departed from this world, his spirit lives on in the countless hearts he touched, forever remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
A celebration of life service will be held to honor Toms life on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Deron Spoo officiating.
