Thomas Cone Moody's Obituary
Thomas Cone Moody, 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 17, 2017 at Clarehouse, a hospice house, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Thomas was born, the second of twins, on June 11, 1928 in Quincy, Massachusetts to Donald and Marion (Sampson) Moody. Thomas grew up in West Newton, Massachusetts. He graduated from Newton High School in Newtonville, Massachusetts in 1946. After high school he:• joined the Army in 1946 and served for 22 months. He served in the World War II Army of Occupation of Japan and was the recipient of the Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation of Japan Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1948, achieving the rank of T4. • attended college at Northeastern University in Boston, MA where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since NU was a cooperative University, he worked at several jobs and finally ended up working for The Patuxent River Naval Air Station, in Patuxent River, MD as a Student Aid Trainee. • began work for Curtiss-Wright Corp. jet engine test laboratory as a test engineer where he worked for 2 years. In August 1955 he started work for American Airlines in Tulsa as a Hydraulic, Electro/Mechanical Senior Engineer. He retired in December, 1990 after 35 years.Thomas married June LaPorte in 1953 in Newton Highlands, Massachusetts. They were happily married for 60.5 years. Thomas was a member of Tulsa Bible Church and then Eastwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing the violin and working with computers.Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Marion, wife June, and twin brother Kenneth.Thomas is survived by his son Glenn Moody, daughter Karen (husband Martin) McMillan, son David (wife Kyo Sun “Suni”) Moody, daughter Krista (husband Stephen) Pursley; his brother Donald Moody; his grandchildren Traci, Steven, Sarah, Katherine, Jacqueline, Mary, Tiffany, Jasmine, and Ann; his great-grandchildren Zane, Conner, Josh, Jacoby; and his many nieces and nephews and other relatives.Viewing will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and family will greet friends that evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow.Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2017 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Veterans Field of Honor with Military Honors conducted by the United States Army.Memorial Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gordon Small officiating.In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to: JAARS, PO Box 248, Waxhaw, NC 28173 Petra Kids Ministries, PO Box 700951, Tulsa, OK 74170Friends may send their condolences to www.floralhaven.com
