Thomas Edward O'Connell's Obituary
Thomas “E” O’Connell passed away on December 8, 2024, at his home in Tulsa Oklahoma. Tom was born June 1, 1923, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Mary Kinsella and William Francis O’Connell. Tom attended grade and high school at St. Mary’s Catholic school in Pittsburg, Kansas. Tom served in the Navy during World War II. After his discharge from the Navy, Tom attended Kansas State Teachers College (Pittsburg State University) graduating with his Bachelor of Arts in June of 1949. Tom married the love of his life Evelyn “Kate” Wisdom on April 11, 1959. Katie predeceased Tom in death on August 27, 2009. The couple lived in Wyoming, Libya, Texas and Oklahoma following Tom’s employment as a Geo-physicist involved extensively in oil exploration for several companies, having worked primary primarily for Raytheon Seismograph Service Corporation.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings William Francis O’Connell, Paul, Bernard O’Connell, Elizabeth Jane Day, Margaret Mary Walters and Patrick John O’Connell. Tom is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as, family by choice Dana Henson and Robin Patrick.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday December 13, 2024, at St.Pius X Catholic Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Visitation Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 4-7:00p.m. , Floral Haven Funeral Home, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
