Thorville B. "Toby" Bogle Jr.'s Obituary
Thorville Blaine Bogle “Toby”, 81, Berryhill, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019. He was born April 30, 1938 to Thorville B. Bogle Sr. and Inez Morgan Bogle in Porum, OK. Toby attended school in Porum until he was 15 when the family moved to Colorado. He spent his junior year attending high school in Canada studying vocal music. Upon his return to Colorado, he joined the Navy and served from 1956 through 1960. He was married to Patricia Donoher in 1962 and they have two children, Troy and Tracie. Toby returned to Tulsa in 1976 and had been a resident ever since. He was a paint contractor and worked for Tulsa Public Schools for several years. In his 50’s Toby decided to learn how to play guitar. Later he tackled the bass fiddle and enjoyed playing with various groups in the Tulsa area including the Golden Oldies and Asbury Saints of Swing, both Dixieland bands. He remembered the words to several hundred songs and when there was a request he could usually sing it. Toby enjoyed serving others through his work, music and volunteering. He delivered meals for almost 10 years through Meals on Wheels and the Sand Springs Senior Center. Toby was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Edith, Clara and Jo Betty, and his wife Ophelia “Fiji”, deceased 1999. He is survived by wife Carla Allman Bogle and children Troy (Stephanie) Bogle of Colorado Springs, CO, Tracie (Thad) Houdeshell of Clancy, MT, four grandchildren, Austin, Megan, Dylan, and Maddie and other extended family, step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Toby leaves behind many friends and family whose lives he has enriched and are blessed to have known him. Visitation is Friday, December 27th from 3pm – 5pm. Celebration of life for Toby will be Saturday, December 28th at 10am. Both will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home and Chapel, 6500 S 129th East Ave., Broken Arrow, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations, time or monetary, to Meals on Wheels of Tulsa or Sand Springs Senior Center.
