Todd Thompson's Obituary
Todd Edward ThompsonTodd Edward Thompson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on November 25, 2017 at the age of 65. He was born on February 5, 1952 in OKC, OK to Leo Edward and Gloria Todd Thompson. He graduated from Northwest Classen HS in 1970 and then attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He graduated from OU in 1975 with his bachelor’s in Political Science. He then on to pursue his Master’s in Environmental Science at the University of Texas at Dallas and his MBA from the University of Dallas. It was during his undergrad time in Norman that he met his wife Mary McClymonds Thompson and they were married on January 8, 1977. They had three children, Libby, Ben, and Sam. In 1978 he started his career in the environmental consulting industry in Oklahoma City. An opportunity brought him to Texas in 1988 where he lived in McKinney for 19 years, but eventually moved back to his Oklahoma roots Tulsa in 2007. Todd loved playing golf – especially his annual guys trip to Grand Lake and Oklahoma football, where he was a season ticket holder for 17 years. He had recently built his dream outdoor entertaining space and spent the last few months loving life outside and tinkering with his new smoker. If he wasn’t on the patio he was in the garden tending to tomatoes, peppers, Jalapenos, and onions. He was also involved in his church – First Presbyterian, as an usher and greeter on Sunday mornings. Todd worked hard to install the importance of family and friendship to everyone he met – always welcoming others with a warm smile and greeting. Todd had kept many of the same friendships for most of his life., building a base and then gathering more friends as he went along the way. He did not know a stranger and the room was always brighter after he walked in. He is survived by his wife Mary Thompson, his daughter Libby and husband Justin Lauten, son Ben and wife Amanda, son Sam, grandson Bryson, and granddaughter Aubri. He also has a second granddaughter due December 18th. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo Thompson and Gloria Thompson Marr, and his stepfather James Marr. Todd loved his wife, family, friends and Sooner football, but most importantly his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The family would like to thank his doctors, the nursing staffs at OCSRI, St. Francis, the Oklahoma surgical Hospital who worked so hard to have him be cancer free, as well as his cancer support system. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to The American Cancer Society or Reel Recovery.
