Tommie Jean Cherry's Obituary
Tommie Jean Alberty Cherry, 94 years of age, born March 9th, 1931, in Heavener, Oklahoma to parents Lurah and Emmitt Andrew Alberty. She passed away on May 6th, 2025, in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Tommie and Ralph Cherry were married in Heavener, Oklahoma in 1949.
Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, and “Nan”
Mom will be dearly missed by her daughters. Beth Lofthus and husband Drew. Paula Bennett and husband Richard, and Toni Boyles and husband Lanny.
Her loving brother Billy Jack Terry and wife Peggy.
She is also survived by her loving family. Grandchildren: Ryan Bennett and wife Christi, Jared Bennett and wife Megan, and Kelly Boyles. Great Grandchildren: Peyton Bennett and wife Drew, Pearson Bennett, Talon Bennett, Grace Bennett, Stormy Knight and Juliana Mychelle Bennett.
A host of Nieces and Nephews: Michael Cherry, Robin Zahn, Sophia Pearson, Billy Shawn Terry and wife Shirley, Skylynn Terry, and Colton Terry.
Tommie was predeceased in death by parents Lurah and Emmitt Andrew Alberty, brother Bobby Smoot, Sister Anna Scrivner, her favorite Aunt, Wanda Jean Blevins, and beloved friend Vi Johns.
She spent most of her adult life working at Sears in Tulsa. Our family lived in the country at 51st and
145th Streets, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family attended Suncrest Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their daughters attended and graduated from Union Schools in Tulsa.
Tommie was a devoted mother that loved to watch her daughters participate in school and church activities. Mom was always the planner of fun family trips, visits to grandparents and exciting vacations. She loved to listen to gospel and country music. She was a member of the Western Swing Society and an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.
Tommie was deeply loved by all that knew her. Her family, friends, and medical care staff at the East Gate Center will cherish the memories of her witty humor and spunky attitude. Her life was filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her loving family.
We want to express our appreciation to the office and medical staff at East Gate Center and Sans Boise staff for always being a comfort to her daughters and their mother. They took care of our mother, made her feel special, and made her life comfortable.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Ceremony will be at Floral Haven on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, at 10:00 AM CT.
