Tommy W. Mathieu's Obituary
. Tommy Wayne Mathieu, 72 years, entered heaven on March 31, 2012. Tommy was born October 1, 1939 to Robert and Ruby Mathieu in Jonesboro, Louisiana. Tommy grew up in Louisiana and Texas and joined the army in 1958. While stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas, he met Kathleen Meier and they married on August 9, 1965. During his 20 years in the military, he was stationed in many countries including France, Germany, Korea and Vietnam. In 1968, while in Germany, daughter, Courtney Nicole (Nikki) was born. From 1969-1978, he worked at the White House for Presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter. He was on staff of the White House Communications Agency and traveled with the Presidents on many trips including the first presidential trip to China with President Nixon. In 1970, daughter, Katherine Melissa (Lissa) was born, followed by daughter, Caroline Lee (Carri) in 1978. Also in 1978, Tommy retired from the military and moved his family from Washington, DC to Tulsa, OK. In 1980, daughter, Jessica Anne (Jessi) was born. In Tulsa he worked at Oral Roberts University, Amoco and MCI WorldCom specializing in communications. He retired in 2003. Tommy was very active at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Glenpool, Oklahoma. He enjoyed the mission work and traveled to Honduras, Joplin and other areas in crisis. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids, hanging out by the pool, watching soccer games, riding horses, and helping at the church. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Mathieu; their children, Nikki Boyd and husband Rob of Owasso, OK, Lissa Parkey and husband Erik of Tulsa, OK, Carri Cline and husband Justin of Owasso, OK, Jessi Case and fiancé Jon Hadley of Tulsa, OK, and his daughter from a previous marriage, Misty Smith and husband Billy of Monroe, LA. Also survived by grandchildren: Caitlin Boyd, Brianna Boyd, Harrison Boyd, Isabel Parkey, Ashton Parkey, Olivia Parkey, Conner Cline, Logan Cline, Brenden Cline, John Collins and Thomas Collins. Survived by two brothers, Mark Mathieu, Mike Mathieu, and two sisters LaJuana Shields and Jan Albritton. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Melissa Leigh, and his parents. Funeral Service will be held on April 3rd at 10:00 am at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Tulsa, OK, followed by internment at Floral Haven. Memorial contributions can be made to King of Kings Lutheran Church in Glenpool, OK.
