Troy Anspaw's Obituary
Troy Anspaw, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on December 3, 2023, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born on July 29, 1969, to Carrie Willis Anspaw and Wilma Jean Double in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Troy was a kind-hearted and outgoing individual who loved his family, had never met a stranger, and had a bold and adventurous spirit.
Upon graduation from Vinita High School in 1987, he enrolled at Roger’s State University, studying art. During his two (2) years of study, he yearned for something more. Troy’s love for adventure led him to enlist in the Navy in 1989. His time in the Navy allowed him to make lifelong friends and brothers. Being apart of the Gulf War, he did aviation and surveillance missions. During this time he discovered his love for avionics. He was incredibly proud to serve his country and to be apart of something greater than himself. After the Navy, he decided to pursue a career in avionics and aviation maintenance, starting his career as a certified aviation mechanic in 1997 with American Airlines.
Troy met the love of his life, Renee, in August of 1996, and married on September 29, 2007. Their loving relationship spanned 27 years. The two would go on to create lifelong memories to share, as a family with Adam and Emily. Troy was a proud father and grandfather; his love and legacy will always be cherished.
Troy had a passion for tinkering and was known for his creative talents as an artist. He also loved history and was an avid bicyclist, participating in the Tulsa Tough bike races. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors, specifically spending time boating on the lake with family and friends. His love and passion was unmatched.
Troy will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife Renee; his son Adam Shirley of Collinsville; his daughter Emily Camas Padilla and granddaughters Sadie (age 4) and Jasmine (age 2) Camas Padilla of Broken Arrow; his sisters Lisa Goss and husband Owen of Vinita; Janelle Johnson and husband Rusty of Vinita; and Darci Cole of Tulsa; his sister-in-law Jacki Stocker and husband Stephen of Skiatook; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. His kindness, generosity, and love for life will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his sister Ciji Lambert of Vinita; his father Carrie Willis Anspaw(C.W.) of Vinita; and his mother Wilma Jean Double of Vinita.
The Family Visitation and Viewing will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 from 5-7 PM.
Closed Casket Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 12:30 PM.
Interment to follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens for a small veterans honors service.
A celebration of life with finger food will be held at the Floral Haven Family Center afterward.
