The Glorious Life of Mrs. Valerie Jenkins RossOn February 20th, the Lord called his angel home. So, she walked down that path in the garden, into the light knowing that God has prepared a place for her. Valerie was the only girl born March 8, 1939 to proud parents Bertha & George Hawkings in Jamaica New York. After attending Franklin K. Lange High School in Brooklyn New York, She secured employment with American Airlines Corporate in New York, and was later transferred to Tulsa, Ok.; where she met and married Bennie Ross, April 20th 1985. Although, they didn’t have any children of their own, they did have fur babies: Poochies Pancho & Precious and their favorite Feline Mr. Gee. By 1995, Valerie had retired from American Airlines, but, “Mama Chicken” never let grass grow under feet. She enjoyed catering, cooking, parties at home, sewing curtains for the entire house and volunterred to Meals on Wheals. Valerie also enjoyed taking pictures and having Benny decorate the house and yard every Christmas. She is preceded in death by both her parents, one daughter (Karen), several aunts and uncles. Valerie is survived husband of 35 years, Bennie Ross, sibling Dennis McMclam of Belize/Central America, and a host of nieces and nephews, relative and friends.Viewing will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow with Reverend George Palmer officiating.
