She came from a large family, and she loved each sibling and their families. She graduated from Keota High School and attended business school in Tulsa , Oklahoma. On June 17, 1961 she married Curtis Holt and they began their 64 year journey. She and Curtis raised their two girls, Pam and Vickie in Tulsa, where they attended Faith and Southeast Baptist churches and Velma began her career in the oil and gas industry. She worked as an accountant and a gas measurement technician for Cities Service and retired from Occidental Oil. She believed in giving your best whether it was serving in the nursery at church, taking care of her home or working for her employer.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents Tommy and Grace McClary, five sisters, three brothers, and her daughter, Pamela Holt Baskins.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Holt, her daughter, Vickie Winden and husband, Eric, son-in-law, Steve Baskins, grandchildren Ashlee Osborn and Jason, Blake Winden and Emily, Tyler Baskins and Hannah, Chloe Cheaney and Chris, and thirteen great grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Breland, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
Velma knew the Lord and knew her salvation meant life eternal. Leaving this world was only hard because of the family she was leaving behind. One of her last quotes was, “I love each and every grandchild and great-grandchild more than they will ever know.”
