Velma Irene Lowther's Obituary
Velma Irene Lowther, 85, of Broken Arrow, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Born on December 11, 1927, she was the daughter of Christopher and Vestia 'Fay' (Huttsell) Stump. On February 4, 1951, she married Howard Lowther in Springfield, Mo. Velma was a devoted follower of Christ. She accepted Him as her Savior in her teen years and has served Him with her whole heart ever since. She never hesitated to ask about a friend's relationship with Jesus. Although we will miss her in our lives, we know that she is now at home with Jesus, her Lord. For more than three decades, Velma was an active member of Sheridan Road Baptist Church. She later became a faithful member of Lynn Lane Baptist Church for the last fifteen years. Velma was also a long time volunteer at the Broken Arrow Senior Center. She is survived by her son, Mark Lowther, Little Elm, TX; daughter, Charlotte (David) Brown, Broken Arrow; brother, Chris Stump; sisters, Eva (Eldon) Vaughan and Barbara (Monte) Spry; two grandchildren, Kyle Brown and Christen (Jason) Robinson, and one great-granddaughter, Abigail Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lowther, infant son, Aaron Lowther, two sisters, Mertie Stump and Nadine Cumsey, and one brother, Robert Stump. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 24, 2013, at Lynn Lane Baptist Church in Tulsa with Pastor Keith Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 10:00 am ' 8:00 pm; the family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 2:00 pm ' 4:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Velma's name to Lynn Lane Baptist Church.
