My Mom grew up in McCurtain Oklahoma during the Great Depression. She moved to Tulsa in 1943. In 1944 she married my Dad. While he was in the Army serving in Europe during WWII, she worked at Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa to help in the War effort. She and Dad raised me and my sister to be good citizens. She loved us very much. Mom had a very strong faith. Thanks Mom, your son, Ken.
I always enjoyed visiting my grandma when I was young- going on trips to Tulsa. She would show me her sewing room and I always thought that was really cool- maybe why I became a seamstress! I also share her love of exercising… she was active into her later years. I loved it when she would joke and laugh because she also had a very serious side. It was really nice that she and my grandpa travelled to Las Vegas to come to my wedding. I admire that she was content to live a simple life. I wish I could have visited more often, but I’m grateful for the memories I do have.
This photo was taken in 2019 to celebrate Grandma’s 94th birthday! She was such a strong woman. I am grateful for the times I was able to share with her. My best memories are from my childhood. Visiting her and Grandpa at their home in Tulsa. I am thankful she was able to meet my 3 son’s and they are able to have a memory of their great-grandma.
My Mom was one of the strongest women I have ever known. She loved my brother and me very much. She supported and cared for our Dad through all the difficulties toward the end of his life.
