Vera Renne's Obituary
Vera Olive Melrose Renne, 95, went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2020. She was born in southern Illinois in the small town of Golden Gate to William Cloud and Frankie Globensky Melrose. Vera moved to Tulsa after visiting her sister Mary. She fell in love with the beauty and weather in Oklahoma and never returned to Illinois to live. Soon she met Louis Renne and they were married in 1943. They lived and worked in Tulsa, and raised their two sons there, Larry and Mike. They were married for 65 years.
Vera was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ from a young age. She had a caring, loving, generous heart which made her a friend to all she met. She had passions for baseball, politics, Model As, and singing gospel music. Cooking was her love language and she shared it freely with family, friends, and those in need. She enjoyed telling her childhood stories to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, which included hitting homeruns on the boys’ baseball team, and helping her dad with his horses in the logging business. Times were hard but she had fond memories of times shared with her large family. Vera had a beautiful voice and loved singing with her family and at church.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Renne; her son, Mike Renne; sister Mary Martin; and brother, Arch Melrose. Vera is survived by her son, Larry Renne, and wife, Gretchen of Sherman, TX; her daughter-in-law, Susie Renne of Epworth, Iowa; 3 granddaughters, Jodi Hough, Jenny Bien, and Shannon Daly; 9 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
