Vera Jean Wilson's Obituary
Vera Jean Wilson was born in Monett, Missouri on September 21st, 1927 to Arch and Gladys Long. She graduated from Monett High School and Monett Junior College and was married to James T. Wilson on August 15th, 1948. They moved to Springfield, Missouri where Jim attended Southwest Missouri State College. After 2 ½ years of Jim working on the Missouri Highway Patrol, they moved to Tulsa Oklahoma. Vera worked as a PBX operator at Baroid Sales Company until their daughter, Susan, was born in 1953. Jim and Vera joined East Side Christian Church in Tulsa in 1951 and soon joined the church choir. They were both very active in the church activities.Vera was an active member of Chapter DX, P.E.O. She worked at Shell Oil Company for many years. After their retirement, Jim and Vera enjoyed many wonderful trips both in the United States and abroad. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1998.Vera was predeceased in death by Jim, in January of 1999, brother Gordon Long of Fayetteville, Arkansas and sister Virginia Long of Monett, Missouri. Her survivors are daughter Susan and son-in-law Dan of Sugar Land, Texas, and grandsons Dr. Clark Steffens and wife Stephanie of The Colony, Texas and Chase Steffens and wife, Eyrun of Reykjavik, Iceland and great-grandaughters, Stella and Willow (daughters of Chase and Eyrun).Vera went to claim her Heavenly mansion on June 1, 2016 at the age of 88. She touched the lives of many with her beautiful smile and servant’s heart. For those wishing to remember Vera, the family requests donations be made to Clarehouse in Tulsa at 7617 S.
