Verda Fae Gillispie's Obituary
Verda Fae (Cox) Gillispie, 92, passed away from this life on Monday, July 8, 2019. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Newspring Family Church in Jenks. Verda will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow. Floral Haven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Verda was born April 13, 1927 in Haskell, Oklahoma. She was the 3rd child of Linnie (Cates) Cox and Presley Cox. Verda married Ervin Gillispie in September 1945. She was the mother of 8 children. After her divorce in 1974, she earned her GED and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a Management Degree from Oklahoma State University. She then worked for Ehrl’s Party Supply in Tulsa until her retirement in 1992. Verda enjoyed traveling, music and spending time with her family, especially at Thanksgiving. Verda had a sunny disposition and always had a smile on her face. She was adored and loved by all. Verda is preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters; Lorene Bourland, Lillian Champion and Willa Smith. One daughter, Wilma Leedy and one grandson, Phillip Leedy. She is survived by her sister, Julie Harris and her brother, Don Cox. She is also survived by her son, James Gillispie and wife, Melba; daughter, Wanda Lamle and husband, Jed; son, David Gillispie; son, Larry Gillispie; son, Kenneth Gillispie; son, Tim Gillispie and wife, Leslie; daughter, Carolyn Hays and husband, Larry and her grandchildren, Lorra Shamblin, Eric Gillispie, Stephanie Lewis, Kristin Owens, Jason Leedy, Dane Gillispie, Danielle Gillispie, Cole Gillispie, Connor Gillispie, Christian Gillispie, Makyla Mach, Drew Gillispie, Paige Blake, Hailey Gillispie and Koby Cramer. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
