Verdalee Beatrice Parker's Obituary
Verdalee Beatrice Parker, aged 83, peacefully transitioned on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born on May 5, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to her parents, Barvel and Virginia Patrick. Verdalee was united in marriage with Emanuel Parker, who has preceded her in her journey beyond life.
Verdalee pursued higher education, achieving her Master's degree in Education, and subsequently dedicated herself to enlightening young minds at Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois. Her focus was on guiding high school students in the realm of child development. Beyond the classroom, Verdalee possessed remarkable culinary talents, which she graciously imparted to her sole son, Maury. Her creativity flowed through her skilled hands as she crafted through sewing, fashioning attire for both herself and her son. A forward-thinking woman, Verdalee excelled as an attentive listener, a nurturing mentor, and an inspirational leader. Her spirit thrived in the act of acknowledging and uplifting others for their unique qualities.
Verdalee's legacy endures through her cherished son, Maury Parker of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, as well as two brothers: James O. Patrick of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lucious Patrick and his devoted wife Regina of Owasso, Oklahoma. Her influence extends to four grandchildren: Eric Shannon and his wife Elizabeth, Marcus Parker, Victoria Parker, and Marshall Parker. In addition, she leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Tyger and Tyson. Verdalee's circle of impact encompasses a host of friends and extended family members. She joins her parents, husband, and four siblings in the realm beyond life.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023 in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leonard Allen officiating.
