Vern was one of my first customers back in 1992 when I first started my publishing company. Whenever we got together, we always managed to talk about so many other things besides business.I always enjoyed these long conversations on the economy, investments, politics. His years of wisdom were a great and wonderful gift which he never failed to share with me.My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and to so many others that his life touched.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Vern was a great man, It was an honor to know him.Steve & Vicki Andrews Andrews Lighting Family
Martha i am so sadden to hear about your loss i have always had a love for you and Vern our trip to Las Vegas was great and i will never forget seeing Vern eating sausage each morning and when i asked him was it really that good because i am a bit picky about sausage he said it was great so i tried it it i found out it was not good at all and i asked "Vern why did you say this was so good" thats when you said oh he is not picky Vern will eat anything. I think that sausage was talked about each time i saw or spoke with him from that day on. Vern was very special man and he will be missed by all that knew him it is a sad day in Tulsa but a joyous day in Heaven he will make a difference where ever he is Jack McGlumphy

Martha, Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this difficult time. I have enjoyed my phone calls with Vern over the last few years regarding my researching the Garbe family history and living in Cosby. I always found Vern eager to help and he had a great memory. I will mail you a copy of the most recent information and keep you informed. You will be in our prayers also. David, Kyle, William F., John & Renee Garbe Rochester, N.Y.
I have fond memories of Vern and Martha when I was growing up. They were our next door neighbors and were both wonderful people. I remember when Vern went on business trips he would bring us girls the little bars of soap from the hotels he stayed at. As little girls we always thought that was pretty cool. I'll always remember his kindness to us. A few years ago all three of us had the privilege of visiting with them at the store and they posted a welcome sign for us. Such great folks. Martha, my prayers are with you and your familyJanet Simpson Hillhouse
Vern & Martha were our neighbors when me and my sisters were growing up. They were wonderful neighbors and friends to our family. We visited with Vern and Martha a few years back and it was great to see them again. I know that he will be missed. Our prayers are with Martha, family and friends.
Dear Martha and family,Loren and I send our deepest expression of sympathy to you and the family. Loren's grandmother was a Garbe, and even though we never got the opportunity to meet Vernon, we heard he was a very loving, kind man. We know he will be missed.God bless you! Be comforted in knowing you will be remembered in our prayers.Sincerely, Loren and Stella Girsberger Lake Oswego, Oregon
Even though his sight in the natural was compromised, Vern was a true visionary in the lighting industry. His merchandising concepts anticipated trends that were espoused by the industry at large years after he had pioneered them. He was also a true gentleman in every sense of the word and one who will be greatly missed. My condolences to Martha in this difficult time of loss.
