Vernon "Bob" Kollin's Obituary
Vernon Robert “Bob” Kollin, 72, died Saturday, October 24th, at his home in Coweta, Oklahoma.He was born on November 5th, 1942 to Vernon and Loretta Kollin in Highland Park, MI. He lived in Royal Oak, MI and attended Our Lady of La Salette and Berkley High School in Berkley, MI. After graduating high school, he worked as a maintenance operator for Jefferson Elementary School in Ferndale, MI. He retired in 1987 and moved to live with his twin sister, Bethany Cobb, and her family in Oklahoma. Bob could not keep true to the profession of retirement and began working at Unarco and later Walmart as a beloved greeter at the new Supercenter in Coweta, Oklahoma.Bob enjoyed being with family, fishing, watching professional wrestling, and reading. He treasured his many nieces and nephews and loved bragging about their many accomplishments.Bob was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Loretta Kollin of Royal Oak, MI. Survivors include: his twin sister Bethany Anne Cobb and husband Lee of Coweta, OK; brother Michael Kollin and wife Sally of Mason, MI; niece Dawn Kollin of Mason, MI; nephew Matthew Kollin and wife Melinda of Jackson, MI; niece Stacy Ellison and husband Randy of Redford, MI; niece Cindy Bergin and husband Steve of Tulsa, OK; niece Marcia Denny and husband Grant of Tulsa, OK; niece Susan DeTurk and husband Mike of Chickasaw, OK; nephew Jay Cobb and wife Jennifer of Broken Arrow, OK; nephew John Kerns and wife Jennifer of Tulsa, OK; niece Maribeth Cobb of Coweta, OK; and many great nieces and nephews.Bob embraced death with extreme grace and dignity and welcomed his calling with anticipation of a child on Christmas morning: “I’m ready; what’s taking so long?” Visitation will be held on October 27th from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th, 2015 and a funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28th. Both services will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Broken Arrow. Interment will be at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK.
