Lit a candle in memory of Veronica Ann Hagans
Dear Donald, Obadiah, Ezekiel and Zechariah, Mrs. Hagans and the Riley family, I was so sad to hear of the passing of Veronica. The last conversation Veronica and I had was in May of this year. She asked me when was I coming to visit her and I said when the tornado season was over and then I said I didn't know.I lived with Veronica and her sister Sharon in Toronto in the 80's. Veronica went home to N.S. one time for an Military event that she use to be in, in Halifax. I can't remember the name of it I think it was tic tac or something like that. Anyways when she came back and said she said she met this guy named Donald Hagans' and that they were getting married, She told me she was in love. I said yeah right. As you can see it truly was love at first sight. They were surely in love, 33 years of marriage and three handsome sons.I visited them a couple times in Virginia. Donald remember your brown car with the hole in the floor and were driving from Virginia to Connecticut. That was one fun trip.I didn't see or talk to Veronica that often but I really loved her and I was so sad when she left Toronto. God had a plan for her. Veronica touch so many people with her sweet and gentle spirit. She will be deeply missed. May she rest in peace.Sincerely,Anna Brooks Toronto, Canada
I first became friends with Veronica in a high school economics class, over shared boredom. Together, we went on many adventures, dances, clubbing, and even a trip to Bermuda. Veronica introduced me to the army reserve, in which I enlisted and met my husband of 31 years. I in turn, introduced Veronica to motorcycles. Yes, she got her motorcycle license! We would be on that motorcycle as soon as the snow melted, (hey, it was our only wheels! ) Sometimes we pushed the limit, though; after one particularly cold March evening, she had to hold my hands under warm water to get the feeling back in them. Another night, we were on our way back to the militia camp (an hour and a half drive), with Veronica on the back, when she dreamt of seeing a giant army boot on the side of the road. Veronica showed her love and friendship in so many ways but none so poignantly as including me in her wedding, the only non-relative to be included. Distance may have separated us, but our friendship stood the test of time, and I loved her dearly.
Sending my condolences to the Hagan Family, I'm so sorry to hear about Veronica, she was a coworker of mine at Saint Francis Hospital and a dear friend. Charlene

To the Hagans and Riley Families,Words cannot express our sadness and deepest sympathy on the passing of Veronica. Our memories of Veronica were memories of kindness and gentleness. She was always soft spoken that commanded a calmness when she was around.Although she has left this physical realm, she is gone to a place where there will be no more death, sorrow nor pain. She is now resting in the arms of Jesus. To God Be the Glory! Family, take comfort in knowing that she has gone to a place where we are all striving to go and we can meet her there one day.May God continue to be with each and everyone of you during this time.
