Vincent L. Callahan's Obituary
CALLAHAN, VINCENT L., 86 years old, went to see Jesus on Saturday November 29, 2003. Vince died suddenly from heart complications after a long and very happy life. Vince was born in Epworth, Iowa to James Frances and Myrtle Sweeney Callahan on October 27, 1917. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served in World War II. At the time of his death Vince had been retired for many years. He was a business owner, restaurateur, ordained minister, missionary to Brazil, skilled athlete and avid golfer with 7 hole in one’s. Vince met the love of his life, his wife Margaret Elizabeth Scott Callahan as first graders at Epworth, Iowa Grammar School. They married July 3, 1938 in Center Grove, Iowa. Vince and Margaret had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. They travel extensively to many countries always having lots of fun and enjoying every minute of their life together. They had five children and to each of their children “Daddy” was their hero. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grand father with a multitude of friends. Vince was respected & loved by all who knew him. Vince was known for his generosity, trust, wisdom, kindness and LOVE! He will be loved forever, missed forever and never, never forgotten. Vince loved the Lord with all his heart and thanked God every day for his life on this earth that he shared with his loving wife and family. Vince was preceded in death by his youngest son Patrick David Callahan, his parents and one sister Irene Callahan Oberfoell. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Callahan of Bella Vista, Arkansas, his Daughters Carrie Jo and husband Dixon Johnson, of Long Beach, CA.; Dana and husband Glenn Clayborn, of rural Welch; Linda and husband Bill Call, of Tulsa; and his son James Michael Callahan, of Lake Murray, Ardmore, OK.; Seven grandchildren: Mark Carey and wife Jamie; Melissa Carey; Erin Johnson; Samuel Paddack; Jake Callahan; Jonathan Call; and Kelley Callahan; two great grand-daughters: Brianna Elizabeth and Emily Grace Carey; brother Ray and wife Florence Callahan, of Epworth, Iowa; brother Noel and wife Rita Callahan, of Epworth, Iowa and numerous other dear relatives.
