Viola Louise Meyer's Obituary
Viola Louise Meyer, 89, homemaker passed away July 2, 2018 in Tulsa, OK. She was born February 7, 1929 to George W. and Mary Louise Crowell Windolf.Viola grew up on acreage just outside Waterloo, Iowa and graduated in 1947 from West Waterloo High School. Viola served as President of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church Women, Waterloo for several years.On November 5, 1948 Orval Meyer and Viola Windolf were married and together they raised 4 children. The family moved to Tulsa in 1968 when Orval was transferred. She worked in Sears Credit Office part time for 8 years. She served as treasurer of Bethany Lutheran Church Women for several years. Viola began a prayer shawl ministry in 2010 and made and gave away 36 plus shawls. She loved to cook for family dinners and had a gift of hospitality. She knitted half mittens for dialysis patients. Viola loved family, cooking, music, and dancing.Viola was preceded in death by parents, grandparent, aunts, uncles, daughter Carol Oakes, and grandson Michael Meyer. She is survived by daughter Nancy Davis and her husband Al; sons Roger Meyer and his wife Shelley, Larry Meyer and his wife Libby, son-in-law Dick Oakes; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Joy Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund.Visitation will be 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 5th, Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow.Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, July 6th, Joy Lutheran Church, Tulsa.
