Virgil Monroe Hale, Jr.'s Obituary
Virgil Monroe Hale, Jr. was born in Leonard Oklahoma March 19th 1927 son of Virgil Monroe Hale and Rilla (McCutcheon) Hale. He was the 3rd of 8 children.Virgil or Junior as he was called by many grew up in Porter, Oklahoma for most of his life and graduated from Porter Schools in 1947. Virgil excelled in sports, playing basketball & baseball.Virgil met Bessie Guthrie from Porter and married October, 14th 1950. At that time, Virgil was exempted from the war because he was farming for his parents. After he stopped farming he was drafted into the Korean War and served his country in Korea stationed at Ft Ord in Marina, California where Bessie, Virgil and their newborn son Michael traveled to live.Virgil was in the artillery for the Army and worked with mortars.After serving in the military, Jr. worked in Tulsa for North American Douglas as a tool grinder.He worked for the US Postal Service as a postman who walked the Utica Square area delivering mail while he attended The Oklahoma School of Accounting at night.Virgil and Bessie built their own home on a small acreage at 56th & Mingo Road where they raised their three children Mike, Mark & Narissa.Virgil worked over 20 years in his final career as an accountant for Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa.He retired in 1989 to care for his ailing wife. Bessie passed away in 1992.Right before Jr retired he developed a love and talent for the game of golf. He played weekly with friends and even played up to his last few months on earth.Virgil (Jr) was a member, former deacon and former elder of the Broken Arrow Church of Christ.Virgil spent 20 years single after losing his wife while faithfully caring for his son Mike.In 2011 Virgil met and married Billie Moore of Bixby. Virgil and Billie enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with one another.Virgil was preceded in death by his parents Virgil M and Rilla Hale of Porter, Oklahoma, his first wife Bessie L (Guthrie) Hale, his son Mark Allen Hale of Moore, Oklahoma, brothers Weldon and his wife Estalee Hale of Tahlequah, Donnell and his wife June of Mississippi, Bob Hale of Tahlequah, Ken and Nedra Hale Of Coweta, sisters-in-law Ida Hale of Claremore and brother-in-law Marvin Hird.Virgil is survived by his wife Billie Hale of the home, his son Mike of the home, Daughter Narissa Rampey And son-in-law Mike Rampey Of Broken Arrow, His daughter-in-law LeAnna Ball and husband Mike Ball of Spring Branch, Texas, step-children, Teresa Ward, Tamra Moore, Tracy Moore, 6 beloved grandchildren and spouses, David & Angela Rampey, Andy & Keri Hale, Jeremy & Jill Hale, Sara & Nathan Payne, Kimberly & Adam Hall and Matthew Hale. Virgil loved 14 wonderful great-grandchildren, Easton, Hamilton, Adalie, GiGi, Cale, Jake, James, Waylon, Prairie , August, Aubrey-Kate ,Clara, Walker and Henry.Services held Wednesday, September, 4rd from 11am at the Broken Arrow Church of Christ. Viewing will be held at Floral Haven on Tuesday, September 3rd from 5pm-7pm.Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery, Tulsa.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Harbor Family Reconciliation center in Claremore, Oklahoma or The Bridges Foundation (where Mike Hale works), in Tulsa.The Bridges Foundation 1813 N.
