Virginia Ruth Christopher's Obituary
Virginia Ruth Christopher, born on February 28, 1942, in New York City to Viggo and Ruth Hegland, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
A woman of strong faith, fierce love, and boundless energy, Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and friend. She married the love of her life, Gordon Christopher, in October of 1961. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children, Sherri Blackwell and Michael Lee Christopher, whom she adored with all her heart.
Virginia’s heart was truly in her home. She cherished her role as a homemaker, pouring love and care into every corner of her house and every moment with her family. Her immaculate home and stunning garden stood as testaments to her attention to detail and the pride she took in creating a warm, welcoming space for all.
She was best known for her incredible cooking—serving others through the dishes she prepared, each one a reflection of her love. With what seemed like over a million recipes at her fingertips, Virginia brought people together around her table, feeding both body and soul. She didn’t just cook, but everyone loved her cooking.
Virginia lived life with passion and vigor. A talented diver in her youth, she loved to swim, water ski, and play tennis with Gordon. In retirement, she took up golfing and remained active throughout her life. Her green thumb brought her joy in the garden, where she grew vegetables and flowers with effortless skill.
A woman of strong convictions, Virginia was never afraid to speak her mind—cantankerous at times, always unfiltered, and ever authentic. Her friends valued her honesty, advice, and meaningful conversations. She was a loyal companion, a wise counselor, and a steady presence.
But above all, Virginia loved the Lord. Dedicating her life to Christ was the most important decision she ever made, and she lived her faith daily. Her legacy is one of faith, family, service, and strength.
She leaves behind a family who loves her deeply and countless friends who will never forget her warmth, her wit, and her unwavering love. She was a dedicated mother to Michael Christopher (Christi) and Sherri Blackwell and a proud grandmother to Courtney Christopher, Malcolm Blackwell, Dasha Blackwell, Trinity Blackwell, Casey Pool, Abby Christopher-Helaire, and Sean Christopher. Her legacy also lives on through her great-grandchildren, Kaleb Pool, Kolby Pool, Sydnee Collins, Aaliyah Blackwell, Maverick Blackwell, Camdyn Helaire, Kairo Helaire, and Kairee Markland.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
