Virginia Helen Hensley's Obituary
Virginia Hensley peacefully met her heavenly Father October 2, 2023. She was born Virginia Helen Dunham on January 12, 1931 at her home in Lincoln County, Oklahoma. Virginia graduated from Agra High School in 1948, and eventually moved to Stillwater to work various jobs, including the Payne County Courthouse. It was in Stillwater she met the love of her life Howard Hensley. They wed on May 26, 1961 and moved to Tulsa after Howard's graduation from Oklahoma State University. Tulsa was her home the remainder of her life.
After being a stay at home mom for many years, "Miss Ginger" taught preschool at Aldersgate Learning School. She had such a love for children, no more so than her own grandchildren, who called her Gigi. She was wonderful because she was so caring and compassionate.
Virginia was an avid sports fan, especially for her Oklahoma Sooners. Through the years she attended the 1984 Summer Olympics, Final Four basketball and MLB games. She and Howard had TU basketball season tickets for over 45 years. She also traveled extensively, from the Great Wall of China, to the Red Square in Moscow, to the Holy Land, and all 50 states.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Frances (Swingle) Dunham, and her brothers Russell, Donald and Eldon Dunham. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Howard, her sons Jeff (Magda) Marriott of Brighton MI, Brett (Sylvia) Hensley of Tulsa, and daughter Robin (Rick) Musto of Tulsa; grandchildren Annika Marriott, Jack Marriott, Jacob Musto, Nicolas Musto, Skylar Musto, Maximilian Musto, Samantha Hensley, and Alexander Hensley; her most special sister Darlene Bilyeu, and 3 nieces Jennifer (Roy) Hackett, Julie (Bill) Miller, Joni Bilyeu and their families.
Visitation will be held 5:00 PM ~ 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 04, 2023, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 12:30 PM, Thursday, October 05, 2023 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, family has requested make donations to St. Jude's Hospital in Virginia Hensley's name and honor.
