Virginia Louise Jones' Obituary
Virginia Louise Jones, 98, passed away Saturday, after being admitted to St Francis Hospital.
She was born July 2, 1927 in Centralia, Oklahoma, on the Cherokee Nation Reservation, the daughter of Luther Rix Bryant and Lydia Esther (Miles) Bryant. She married Edwin Ernest Jones on June 23, 1947. They had one daughter, Frances.
She was preceded in Death by her husband, Edwin Jones; her parents, Luther Rix Bryant and Lydia Ester Bryant, two brothers, Billy Lee, and Luther Eugene Bryant; five sisters, Faimelle Howington, Zona Faye Bryant, Waletha Mae Bryant, Johnie Jalene Bearly and Donna Lou Ramirez. Virginia was the oldest of eight children.
Her family consists of her daughter & son-in-law, Frances & J.R. Fout, three grandchildren, Tracy Fout & wife Rebecca Fout; Brent Fout & Wife Honey Fout & Teresa Fout; four great grandchildren, Haden Brent-Gram Fout, Olivia Johnson, Audrey Miles & husband Jon Miles, Sarah Taylor & husband Kenny Taylor, four great-great grandchildren, Vada Granger, Taryn Johnson, Lucas Taylor & Kolton Davis.
As a child growing up in Centralia, Oklahoma, she helped with her younger brothers & sisters. She also helped with the family farm chores. She enjoyed visiting with their grandparents. One of her favorite childhood memories was going to school at Union, which was a one room schoolhouse. There was one teacher for all 8 grades. She talked about the teacher popping popcorn for the kids on the big heating stove in the school. Of course, she had many memories with her brothers and sisters.
As an adult she worked at several jobs including Bliss Café in Nowata, Dewey Dime & Dollar, Hancock Fabric in Tulsa, and Zebco Manufacturing in Tulsa. After 15 ½ years, she retired from Zebco February 1, 1994.
For hobbies, she enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing & working cross word puzzles. She & Edwin enjoyed fishing on their boat at different Oklahoma lakes.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 12:30 PM on Friday, May 1st, 2026 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Garden of St Paul.
