Virginia Lockridge's Obituary
Virginia Sue Lockridge, always known as “Sue” by friends and family died on February 8, 2019 while at home with friends and family. She was smiling and talking about the great grandchildren playing and making noise that some were afraid would annoy her, but instead brought comfort and joy to her. She visited with everyone and wanted all to know that she was ready for heaven and was not afraid. She passed away in peace while asleep with her loved ones by her side.Sue was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 2nd, 1945 one of six children to Herschel and Mary Mathis. In her younger years when she would get into trouble, which was often, she would climb on top of the house and her father would have a great amount of trouble getting her down. She loved horses and had several on the farm. She trained one horse in particular, Goldie, to be one of the best cutting horses that most people had ever seen. She attended Jenks High School while living on the family dairy farm west of Jenks. She worked at the farm driving tractors, feeding cattle, processing milk, and other jobs around the place. She left the farm to start on her own as a waitress at a truck stop and being a beautiful young waitress made some pretty good tips from the truckers. When she married her primary job her primary job was to rear some wonderful children who grew up to make her very proud. She drove school buses while the kids were in school and later became a nurses aid with the elderly. The last few years her favorite activity was slot machines and casino.Sue was preceded in death by her parents and twos sisters that she dearly loved, Judy Jones and Lois Garrett.She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry Lockridge, her three children son, Mark Delozier, daughter Elizabeth Bradley, and son James Thompson, her sister Janelle Gallardo, brother Jackson Mathis and wife Jo, brother Roger Mathis and wife Bonnie. She has 10 grandchildren; Jennifer Gabriel and husband Ryan, Sasha Hansan and husband Jeremy, Bree Davis, Paige Davis, Robert Davis, and Jonathon Davis, Dylan Bradly, Miranda Rackers and husband Kody, Talia Thompson and Jason Thompson. She was gifted with 7 great grandchildren Elliot Gabriel, Raidyn and Maggie Hanson, Charlotte and Arianna Rackers and Autumn and Kai.She loved all of her Nieces and Nephews, Gina McCall and husband Rusty, Kelly Garrett and wife Nancy, Shawna Mattison and husband Keith, Holly and Tony Jones, Micky Shane Simmons, Janna Gallardo, Bryan Mathis, Mike Mathis and wife Melissa, Josh Mathis and wife Miranda, Rod and Ross Mathis, and Ryan Waller.Sue was the family peacemaker and helped keep the family close as a family unit. She offered advise when asked and often times when not asked. She was very frank and honest with her opinions and never sugar coated any answers to questions asked. She will always be loved and we will miss her greatly. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 11 from 4 pm – 7 pm.A graveside service will take place at 2 pm on Tuesday, February 12 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
