Virginia Rose Wedlake's Obituary
Wedlake-Virginia Rose, age 78 years 11 months and 6 days entered eternal life Sunday, March 5, 2006 in Tulsa, OK. She was born March 27, 1927 in Chicago, IL to William Marvin Vaughn and Flora Louise Jorgenson Vaughn. She married WWII Navy sailor Robert Thomas Wedlake on April 19, 1947 in Chicago, IL. They were blessed with their first child, Robert Thomas Wedlake, Jr on August 15, 1955. Six weeks after the birth of their second son, Brian Patrick Wedlake, on September 20, 1957, they transferred for Robert’s employment with Midwestern Instruments/Memorex-Telex to Tulsa where they made their home. Virginia was active in church, teaching Sunday School at Trinity Methodist Church, then transferring her membership to Southern Hills United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker during her sons early years, then was employed at Humpty Dumpty for 18 years as a baker and cashier. When Humpty Dumpty closed, she joined her son at Wedlake Fabricating Inc where she managed the finances and accounting. She suffered a massive heart attack and stroke in 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Although told she would never walk again, with her husband’s never ending love and encouragement, and her strength of will and determination, Virginia overcame many obstacles and was able to resume a very active life. A member of St. Francis Health Zone, she was called on to counsel with rehabilitating stroke and heart patients, and was an inspiration not only to her family, but to all who met her. Preceded in death by her mother and father;one brother and two sisters;and grandson Jay Thomas Wedlake. Survived by her loving husband, Robert Wedlake, Sr. of Tulsa, Ok;sons , Robert Wedlake, Jr. and daughter-in-law Gina of Tulsa, Ok and Brian Wedlake, Sr. and daughter-in-law Melissa of Sperry, Ok;grandchildren, Brian Wedlake, Jr and wife Lindsey, Angela Foster and husband Danny, John Wedlake, Caroline Murray and husband Mike, Cara Nichols and husband James, Austin McDonald, Tessa Wedlake; 8 great grandchildren and relatives and friends too numerous to name. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday March 9, 2006 at Southern Hills United Methodist Church in Tulsa Oklahoma. Entombment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Broken Arrow, Ok. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Floral Haven 252-2518
