Wallace Copeland Philoon Jr.'s Obituary
Wallace Copeland Philoon, Jr. passed away July 14, 2012. Wallace was born March 19, 1923 in Beijing, China, the only child of Major General Wallace Copeland Philoon and Mary Lloyd Grayson. He spent his childhood on Army bases in the Philippines, Panama Canal Zone, and across the United States. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1945 and went on to earn his Masters Degree and Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1947 and 1952. He worked at Mallinckrodt Chemical Works in St. Louis, MO where he met and married Anna Marie Prochaska, who preceeded him in death in 1978. They moved to Tulsa in 1964. Wallace was a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Tulsa for 22 years, retiring in 1986. He married Constance Cook Dalious who preceded him in death in 1988. Wallace is survived by his sons Alan and Steve (Sara Kurensky) and grandchildren Alex, Joshua and Kara, as well as members of the Prochaska and Dalious families and devoted friends. Memorial Services will be held at All Souls Unitarian Church on July 29 at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, http://www.blindness.org or a charity of individual choice.
