Walter Wilson Crisp Jr's Obituary
Walter Wilson Crisp, “Wally”, a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather (Papa), Great-grandfather, Brother, and Friend, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the age of 74 years old, in Tulsa, Ok. He was born on February 6, 1951, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Walter and Annabelle (McQueen) Crisp. Wally grew up in Chouteau, OK and attended Chouteau High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. On May 23, 1970, he married his loving and devoted wife, Yvonne (Smith) Crisp. Their love story was one of dedication and a peaceful love for over 54 years, during which time they created many cherished and beautiful memories for their children. Wally worked as a master carpenter and as a superintendent for Williams Construction for many years prior to his retirement in 2006.
Wally was very involved in his children’s extracurricular activities, coaching their ball teams, serving as President of the Chouteau Booster Club, and never missing a Wildcat game. He built the trophy cases lining the walls of Chouteau High’s hallways so its athletes and academics could proudly display their accolades. He was known for his fundraising efforts for these students and would go door to door throughout the community raising money for them. Later in life, he was able to enjoy his love of Harley Davidson motorcycles, touring the country with his wife and visiting iconic motorcycle landmarks throughout the nation, including the Sturgis Rally.
He was preceded in death by his parents Annabelle and Walter Crisp and his siblings, Lanny McQueen, Alice Fine, Judy Crane, Larry Crisp, Daniel Crisp, and Charles Crisp. He is survived by his wife Yvonne of Tulsa, his sister Debra (Crisp) Harris of Wichita, KS, his sister-in-law Kathy Mouton and husband Ray Paul, as well as his children, Laura Casey of Tulsa, Brian Crisp of Tulsa, and Carrie Pecina and husband Martin, of Tulsa. His grandchildren include Chelsea Crisp and husband Derek Alemen, of Tulsa, Michaela Lyons of Broken Arrow, Alyssa Burrow of Norman, Cory Enault and wife Vanee, of Jeffersonville, IN, Evan Crisp of Coweta, Brayden Burrow and wife Samara Cain Burrow, of Tulsa, Annabelle Crisp of Tulsa, and Ryan Casey of Tulsa. His great-grandchildren include Bryson, Bryliee, and Brylon Enault of Jeffersonville, Indiana. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
The family welcomes visitors from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, February 24th, at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Graveside services and interment will be at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, February 26th, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
As we gather to honor the incredible life of Walter Crisp, we remember him as our loving patriarch, the most steadfast and dependable of men. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
He never looked for praises. He was never one to boast.
He just went on quietly working. For the ones he loved the most.
A true friend we could turn to. When times were good or bad.
