Walter S Jacobsen's Obituary
Jacobsen, Walter S. “Jake” , 83 passed away Saturday. He was born in Battle Lake, MN. to O.P. & Christine Jacobsen on June 11, 1920. He Graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1938. He attended Grinnell (Iowa) College and Oklahoma A&M (OSU) in Stillwater, OK. During World War II he was a member of Special Services at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX. At which time he flew boxing legend Joe Louis to Air Force Bases around the country for exhibitions. At Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio he was a flight observer on test missions. This is where he met his wife Betty of 58 years. He was in the oil industry for 48 years as Vice President of Cooper Manufacturing Co., and Corsair Rig Mfg. Co.. He was Regional Sales Manager at Skytop-Brewster and National Sales Manager at Salem Tool Co.. He was a member of the Association of Oilwell Servicing Contractors and the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association. He was preceeded in death by Daughter Jane and Son Wayne. He is survived by wife Betty, sons; Karl, Land and Nels Peter, Daughter Lynn, Grandchildren Kyle, Brooke, Ethan and Annie, Sister Doris Abbott of Oklahoma City, Ok. He was a Member of Ascension Lutheran Church since 1959. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ascension Lutheran Church Abiding Gift Fund. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church at 4803 S. Lewis. Floral Haven 252-2518.
