Walter "Walt" Murphy's Obituary
Walter Murphy affectionally known as Walt beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born on February 15, 1942, in Minerva, Ohio, to Walter Earl Murphy Sr. and Margaret Jane Fisher Swauger.
Walt was a devoted husband to his loving wife Doris Jones Tindell, whom he married on August 28, 1980, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Throughout his life, Walt was known for his many talents and passions. He was a skilled handyman and served as a building inspector for the city of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma for 20 years. His love for woodworking was evident in the beautiful pieces he created with his hands. He had a deep appreciation for cars, enjoyed traveling in his RV with Doris, and had a keen eye for capturing the beauty of the world through his amateur photography.
Walt found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was fishing by the waters or immersing himself in the beauty of nature. A bargain shopper and an incredibly organized individual, he approached every task with diligence and dedication.
Those who knew Walt will remember him as a friendly, outgoing, and personable man. He cherished his family and adored his grandchildren, always making time to create lasting memories with them. A hard worker with a strong sense of family values, Walt was a true family man through and through.
Walt is preceded in death by his parents and brother Lee Murphy
Walt is survived by his lovely wife of 43 years Doris Murphy, daughter Rhonda Mitchell, step-son Jim Tindell, step-son Scott Tindell and wife Susan, brother John S. Murphy and wife Carolyn, grandchildren Annissa Mitchell, Brandi Mitchell, Shelby Morocco and husband Tyler, Tyler Tindell, Jackson Tindell, Logan Tindell and fiancée Makayla, 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and loved ones.
Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2024at 10:00 AM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel
Reception to follow at Floral Haven Family Center from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
