Wanda Lee Dougherty's Obituary
Beloved mother and grandmother Wanda L. Dougherty, 87, passed away peaceably on May 17, 2022.
Mrs. Dougherty was born in Cleveland, Texas to parents Charles Raymond McLin and Minnie L. (Hornback) McLin. After graduating from Cleveland High School, Wanda moved to San Antonio, where she eventually met her future husband, Harry M. Dougherty Jr., an engineering student at Trinity University.
Wanda and her husband raised a family of three boys, living in locations all around the country, relocating as her husband's job required. Wanda's family first arrived in the Tulsa area in 1977, settling in Bixby. During the time in Bixby, Wanda worked for a couple years at the University of Tulsa as a secretary in the Graduate school of Modern Letters.
After addition job assignments and relocations for Wanda and her husband, including a two-year assignment in Switzerland, they retired and moved back to Tulsa to begin enjoying their grandchildren. At this time, Wanda became an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
In Wanda's free time, she enjoyed creative pursuits such as painting, knitting, and needlework. Together with her husband, she also performed in community theater productions. While living in Vidalia, GA, she also found time to attend Brewton Parker College to earn an Associate of Arts degree.
Wanda is survived by her sons Chuck Dougherty and Harry Dougherty, III, as well as 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Dougherty Jr., and her youngest son, Bill Dougherty.
Visitation for Wanda will be held on Thursday, June 9th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A service celebrating Wanta's life will be conducted by Father Bryan Beard on Friday, June 10 at 3:00 PM, at Floral Haven Funeral Home with a reception following from 4:30 to 6:00 PM
