Wanda Cooper Edmison's Obituary
Wanda Mae Cooper Edmison passed away Saturday, April 25. She was the daughter of Ezra and Eva Cooper of Jenks, OK. Wanda was preceded in death by husband, Bert and son, Wayne. Surviving family include daughter, Sue Hay and her husband Rev Ron Hay of Tulsa, and son, Ray of Elizabethtown, PA. She is also survived by two grandchildren – Trena Burton, Michael Hay, and four great-grandchildren – April Barriero, Nita Archuleta, Ralen White, and Sage Hermes.Wanda was born in Oklahoma City and graduated from high school in Jenks, OK, and attended classes at Tulsa University. Upon marrying Bert, she became a pastor’s wife and also served in his ministries with the Baptist Student Union at Tulsa University and children’s homes in Texas and New Mexico. She has been involved in many aspects of mission work for the Baptist denomination including a trip to Venezuela. Two of her favorite commitments were participation in her women’s Sunday School class at Parkview Baptist Church and her work with the WMU (Women’s Missionary Union), serving as State President in New Mexico.Viewing will be at Floral Haven Memorial Garden on Tuesday, April 28, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. family will be present from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Graveside service will be at Floral Haven, Wednesday, April 29, at 10:00 am followed by the memorial service at Parkview Baptist Church, Tulsa, at 11:00 am.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heiffer International (http://heifer.org), Parkview Baptist Church, or Bit by Bit (http://bitbybitok.wix.com/bit-by-bit). Bit by Bit is a therapeutic horseback riding center in Oolagah which greatly benefits Wanda’s autistic grandson, Ralen. l
