Wanda Louise Farless' Obituary
Wanda Farless passed away on March 23rd 2017, she was 83 years old. Born December 30th, 1933 in Oklahoma City, to Earl and Florence Carpenter. Was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers Bee, Dempsey, Jim and three sisters Beatrice, Pauline, and Billie. Wanda parents moved to the Tulsa area while she was still a baby, and was educated in the Tulsa School system, graduating from Central High School in 1952. Worked for TRI State Insurance Company and for Oklahoma Natural Gas Company from 1960 until 1967 and then for Texaco Inc. from 1971 until 1975 in Houston, Texas when Gene was transferred to Houston working for Texaco from 1971 until 1979. This was the end of her working outside of the home. Lived in Tulsa area most of her life except for the eight years in the 1970’s and another 17 years in the 1980’s and 1990’s when Gene and Wanda were transferred by Texaco to work in the Houston area. Wanda was very adept in all crafts and sewing making many first class quality quilts and much of her own clothing. Wanda taught Sunday school (always six year olds) for many years and enjoyed her church activities. She and Gene were involved in helping establishing three Southern Baptist Mission Churches. Wanda is survived by her husband Gene of 53 years; three daughters, Cindee Jones and her husband Lynn of Tulsa, OK, Cathy Bush and her husband Larry of Shreveport, LA, Shelly Borne and her husband Henry of Pierre Part, LA,; son, Kevin Farless and his wife Rebecca of Austin, TX; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. Gene recalls Wanda talking many times about her salvation, the accepting of Christ in her Life, at the age of 14 while living in the area of Utica and Six Street in Tulsa, about she and a neighborhood boy she was very close to, they went to a revival at Calvary Baptist Church and they both accepted Christ as their savor that very night. She talked often about this young boy was drafted into the army at the age of 18years old and was killed in the Korean Conflict before his nineteenth birthday. Wada was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s on June 5, 2005 and this June 5th would be the twelfth Anniversary. She entered Autumn Leaves Memory Care Alzheimer’s Facility on December 27, 2011, 30 days after the Grand Opening and was there five years and three months. Wanda was being taken care of for the last eighteen months by River Cross Hospice. On Thursday, March 23rd Wanda had been having a hard time since the evening before and was being heavily medicated for the pain. Gene was called at 9:00 AM during this time. There were four of us, Gene, Hospice LPN, Hospice Chaplin and a Hospice Aid to the family. At 1:25 PM the Chaplin and the aid started singing hymns in a very low voice and with a relax look upon Wanda’s face at 1:28 PM she left this world and entered into Haven.Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 28th, Floral Haven Funeral Home.Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 29th, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow.
