Wanda Jean Jackson's Obituary
Wanda 'Jean' Jackson, age 80, flew into the arms of our Lord, Tuesday, after her long and courageous fight with cancer. She was born July 5, 1930 in Tiawah, Oklahoma, to Ovid E. and Muriel Flesher, and upon her mother's death, was raised by her grandparents, John and Myrtie Chesser in Warner, Oklahoma. She attended McClain and Warner Schools in her youth, later graduating from Connors State College in Warner and receiving her degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. She taught elementary and special education for a brief time period but was much happier dedicating her life to her family, referring to her occupation as being a Household Engineer. She taught, often by example only, how to have faith in the most impossible situations and the true meaning of forgiveness and second chances. She was a great inspiration to all who knew and loved her, showing us how to live, laugh and love one another. Wanda 'Jean' was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her son, G. Lee Jackson, Jr., great grandson, Jesse Lee James, and her beloved husband of 42 years, G. Lee Jackson, Sr. She is survived by her sister, Martha L. Pannell, Muskogee; brother, O.E. 'JR' King, Checotah; son, John L. Jackson, Havelock, N.C.; daughters, Lyndia G. Humphrey, Westville and Machelle Persall, Sapulpa; grandchildren, Kathryn Smith, Broken Arrow, Melissa Dill, Broken Arrow, Christopher Jackson, Havelock, N.C., Jeannie Jackson, Havelock, N.C., and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins. Also, surviving are the lives she has touched outside of the family, including a trail of many dear friends. Services, Tuesday, 12:30 p.m., Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow. Memorial contributions can be made to a hospice of your choice.
