Wanda Ruth Juen's Obituary
JUEN, Wanda Ruth (Crouch) – passed away peacefully October 15, 2017 at the Porta Caeli House in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Wanda was born in Waco, Texas March 7, 1923. She was adopted by Jesse and Eva Crouch as an infant and lived in Dallas, TX and Denver, CO before moving to Albuquerque, NM. She attended Sandia Preparatory School for young women from 1934 to 1941. She then graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1944 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology and was a lifelong member of Chi Omega from 1942 to 2017.Wanda was a proud veteran who served in the Navy Waves during World War II and was stationed at Catalina Island as an aerographer’s mate second class. In 1946, she was honorably discharged to come to El Paso to help take care of her father Jesse Crouch who had chronic heart disease.It was in El Paso, Texas that she met her true love Paul Lawrence Juen. They married February, 15, 1947 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. They lived and raised 5 children in El Paso. Wanda obtained a Master’s in Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. She was a very well educated woman who cherished her husband and loved her children very much. She enjoyed entertaining guests, playing the piano, singing Christmas songs, traveling and meeting new people, and participating in a broad variety of social organizations throughout her life. Most of all she loved playing games and singing as a family particularly with grandchildren surrounding her.She is survived by her son Chris Juen and his wife Madelyn, daughter Nancy Smith and her husband Ed, daughter Ruth Chiconas and her husband Peter, son Jesse Juen and his wife Margaret and daughter Patricia Spoerl and her husband Arthur. She also has 13 wonderful grandchildren and 13 beautiful great grandchildren whom she adored and always bragged about.A celebration of her life will begin on Friday, October 20th at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at the Church of Saint Mary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21st at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Saint Mary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Hospice of Oklahoma at P.O.
