— Wanda Cookson Matheson —
January 28, 1925 – May 11, 2018She was indeed a feisty and colorful woman with a quick wit and a story to share based on her own life experience and her take on the people she knew. Always compassionate and considerate, she often went out of her way to serve others, including my own mother, Connie Rice, when she became widowed and suffered a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. No one ever went away hungry if they stopped by Wanda’s kitchen, for she was always insistent to serve visitors a generous plate at her table, and send extra food home with anyone she expressed concern for. She and her spouse, Edwin, both had hearts of gold and set fine examples for human compassion and kindness.Wanda was one of a kind, and is already greatly missed, though I feel sure that her spirit remains among us — all those who were the recipients of her friendship, unique humor and thoughtful deeds.May peace be with you, Wanda, and with your friends and loved ones whom you will be undoubtedly reunited with in Heaven!Glenda Rice Collins
